Unusual Jigsaw-Like puzzle

[click on above picture to play]

This next flash puzzle design (over 2 months in the making!) is a neat twist on the jigsaw puzzle concept. Since we’ve been going kind of heavy on the math/logic brain teasers lately, this should be a nice change of pace (more of a visual-spatial challenge).

If you enjoy this kind of puzzle, and would like to see another on smart-kit in the future, please let me know. Additional feedback & suggestions are always welcome too. Thanks

UPDATE March 8th 2008: We’ve decided to make several more of these PLEXUS puzzles. Be sure to check back soon to play!

[ "Olla Podrida' was inspired by the work of Alex Palmer, who created similar puzzles in the 1960's].

Free Tangram Puzzle: Baby Duck

Here is smartkit’s 1st Tangram puzzle. Tangrams were brought to America from China in the 1800s. The goal is to form a specific shape with 7 smaller pieces called tans. Napoleon supposedly kept his mind sharp with tangram puzzles while a prisoner on the island of St. Helena (ref: wikipedia)

This puzzle comes courtesy of www.brainboggled.com.

There is a common English word that is nine letters long. Each time you remove a letter from it, it still remains an English word - from nine letters right down to a single letter. What is the original word, and what are the words that it becomes after removing one letter at a time?

(I wonder if there may be more than 1 solution…)

will post the answer in a day or two in the ‘comments’ section below…
