Milk Bad for the Brain?

December 10th, 2006

I stopped regularly drinking milk years ago for health reasons, and- based on the sheer volume of milk propaganda going around- have always felt the dairy industry has had an unnatural grip on American dietary habits.

From the site www.milksucks.com:

Dairy products are a health hazard. They contain no fiber or complex carbohydrates and are laden with saturated fat and cholesterol. They are contaminated with cow’s blood and pus and are frequently contaminated with pesticides, hormones, and antibiotics. Dairy products are linked to allergies, constipation, obesity, heart disease, cancer, and other diseases.

And dairy products may actually cause osteoporosis, not prevent it, since their high-protein content leaches calcium from the body. Population studies, backed up by a groundbreaking Harvard study of more than 75,000 nurses, suggest that drinking milk can actually cause osteoporosis

Came across a very recent study showing that the more milk you drink each day, the more likely you are to get Parkinson’s disease- a horrible degenerative disease of the brain that is surprisingly common in the elderly.

Men who consumed more than 16oz of milk a day were 2.3 times more likely to develop Parkinson’s than those who drank no milk at all.

The study, conducted by researchers at Korea University, was published in the journal Neurology.

Would you like to live longer AND maintain superior brain health? Then you need to learn to raise & increase to your HDL cholesterol levels…

Interestingly, in what has been referred to as the "Methuselah Syndrome", people with very high HDL levels tend to have exceptionally long, healthy life spans (greater than 100 years), with amazingly intact brain function.

As most of you probably already know, there is a "good" cholesterol, and a "bad" cholesterol. LDL is generally considered to be the bad, while HDL is considered to be the good.

Many scientists believe HDL removes excess cholesterol from your blood vessels and helps keep them open. How does this relate to brain health? If you’ve been reading the Smartkit site from the beginning, you’ll know that one of the key concepts for preserving intelligence and brain power as you get older is: Keep the blood vessels open and free of atherosclerosis. As the brain’s pipes clog and get more narrow, blood flow diminishes, and brain cells don’t work as well as they should. Memory, concentration, creativity, and problem solving ability all plummet.

Therefore, for those interested in extending lifespan AND keeping their brains and hearts healthy, I figured I’d put together an updated list on 13 ways you can increase your HDL naturally, without any prescription drugs:
