Behind the Lens

May 5th, 2008

Five photographers have entered a photography competition. Can you work out the subject of each photograph taken by each of the five, together with the make of the camera and the filter they used to take their shot?

1- The women don’t use F-stop cameras. The Focuswell fan used a polariser filter.

2- Colin takes still life shots, never with a Polariser or an F-stop camera.

3- Jodie took a picture of some birds using a sunset filter, while Marcus used a rainbow filter.

4- Jacqui used a soft focus filter. The F-stop user took a landscape photo; Jodie lovers her SlickShoot camera.

5- The Aperture camera was used to take the portrait photo.

logic grid

It maybe be helpful to print out the grid and table above.

Use the 1st grid to help solve the puzzle. As you read through the clues, place a ‘Y’ (yes) or ‘N’ (no) in each box, depending on whether the intersecting elements are true or not.

You can use the bottom table to place your answers.

These types of logic puzzles are another great way to improve your thinking skills; If you’ve never solved one before, and would like some additional help, here are some detailed instructions you can read through.

Will unmask any submitted answers in a couple days, thanks.

Mother Thrifty and her daughter Dollie each drive 30 ducks to the market. Mother Thrifty is eager for a trade, and hurries on with her 30, and reaches the market early when ducks are in demand. She sells two for one dollar; but Dollie dawdles along the road, and when she arrives the market is supplied so she only receives one dollar for every three.

On the way home the mother says, "I got a dollar for two, and you a dollar for three, which makes two dollars for five ducks; but sixty is twelve times five, so we must have twelve times two dollars or twenty-four," but on counting their money they found they had twenty-five dollars.

Why this discrepancy?

Haven’t done one of these in a while;

Which figure (a), (b), (c), (d) best completes the matrix?

For a similar puzzle, you can try ‘Seeing Stars’ matrix question, or browse the IQ question category.

Here is smartkit’s 1st sponsored puzzle game: Ladybird

Unlike many of the earlier puzzle games posted, this one has replay value; a random set of tiles is generated each time you load it up. Although there are 3 difficulty levels, so far I’ve only tried ‘easy’.

Let me know what you think.

A Glorious Game

football brain teaser

Here’s a classic brain teaser: “At the close of last season, of the footballers of my acquaintance four had broken their left arm, five had broken their right arm, two had the right arm sound, and three had sound left arms.”

Can you discover from that statement what is the smallest number of players that the speaker could be acquainted with?
