Sprout: Great Puzzle Story Game

Here’s Sprout, a really neat Flash puzzle created by Jeff Nusz of New Zealand.

One thing you’ll notice about the game is that there are no instructions- which to me has always been one of the hallmarks of an elegant puzzle. In any case, I’m curious to hear what you think. If these flash puzzle games prove popular, I’ll try to get some more on the site from time to time.

Thanks to Jeff for allowing Smartkit to host his creative & original game.

That IS a neat little game. Memorization, path choices, and outside-the-box problem-solving all in one.

    Some of the trickier solutions:

Break the dam by repeatedly dropping the coconut onto it.

Slingshot the robin by pulling down his branch with the vine.

Use the palm tree to push up the log, making a ramp to catapult your coconut over the river and into the woods.

    yay me!!! i win

Thanks RK, that was fun, figuring out all the minor details that had to happen in specific order. I think bumping the tree branch at the end took me the longest to figure out, I kept trying to grab it with the vine like I did to the tree limb to shoot the bird away

I agree, it was fun. And I appreciate puzzles (like the Four Rivers Logic Puzzle) that are lovely to look at, as this one is. Thanks.

    I loved it!
I also really liked the lack of instructions, and that the only clue as what to do or even what it is, is that it is on a puzzle website. Very refreshing. Thank you Jeff Nusz, I’ll look fwd to the next one…

Hi Wren- try to move the sprout along its way so that it eventually becomes an acorn.

Very nice and enjoyable, loved it almost as much as a grow cube collection.

Very clever. Particularly because it relies on your intuition, not instructions or “rules.” I’d love to see more puzzles like this one!
