Some suggestions:
When a column or row is complete, ie its requirements are in place, the hints should be crossed out, even if the blocks are at the wrong places.
Clicking while holding shift or control should allow you to place an X

This games are hard but cool!!!
@suineg, Not hard, but time consuming. I have encountered more difficult ones.
