Sarah has challenged Johnny to spell as many animal words as he can using the block pattern above. He can proceed up or down, right and left or diagonally. For example, if he were to start with ‘W’ in the corner, it will be seen how ‘wolf’ can be spelled out. How many different creatures should Johnny be able to discover?

I excluded mythical &/or fictional creatures (Ent; Roc). I also excluded Manatee, as it required “standing” on the final “E”, which is normally disallowed in games such as this.
