TREE + LOAD – REEL = TOAD
BOA + BEER – BEE = BOAR

Although, I’m not sure I got them right. I’m pretty sure one of them is right. The insect comment threw me for a loop.

The answers I’m coming up with are:

Tree + load – reel = Toad
Boa + beer – bee = Boar

The first solution doesn’t agree with the line “One insect and … ,” though.

By the way, a toad is an amphibian and not a reptile
