Children in elementary and middle school typically need 9.5 - 10 hours of sleep per night (probably closer to 10). When they only get 8-9 hours of sleep, their brain function and ability to learn drops markedly. Surprisingly, research studies seem to indicate just this 1 extra hour of sleep a night can make a very large difference.
Recent studies suggest that up to 30% of school-age kids are not getting enough sleep.
As strange as this may sound, when kids do not get enough sleep, their behavior the next day commonly mimics that of ADHD.

What about children below 6 years old who sleep only 5 - 6 hours? What will this effect do to their brain? I have a 5 years old son who don’t want to sleep early at night. I’m worried about him.
My opinion is it is not easy to make our children sleep at night. If they need 10 hours of sleep, meaning they have to go to bed at 9pm. I’m having a hard time to make my daughter sleep early.
