An old wise saying is contained in the star path above (starting at top left and moving counter-clockwise). Can you guess it? Here are some hints:
- Superstitious number
- A protective layer of paint
- Suffocates his wife in this Shakespeare tragedy
- Person who wears a mask at a ball
- A part of speech
- Peach variety
- Wasted on the young
- Live entertainment at a restaurant
Each of the hints above represent a word that stretches across each of the 8 'star lines'. So if the first word were 'Seven', the top star on the left would be an 'S' and the top star on the right would be a 'N'.

“TOO MANY COOKS SPOIL THE BROTH”
“Too many cooks spoil the broth.”
1. Thirteenth
2. Overcoat
3. Othello
4. Masquerader
5. Adverb
6. Nectarine
7. Youth
8. Concert
I feel like some of the clues were a stretch. For example, if asked to find a number, I would choose “thirteen”, not “thirteenth”. As for a protective layer of paint, I would not choose “overcoat”, as I understand that to mean a long jacket. And I certainly do not consider music at dinner to be a “concert”.
There’s always the chance that my responses are wrong, but nothing else that fits comes to mind. Either way – still a fun puzzle!
