Does anyone know why Indian Gods are painted blue? Actually, when I first saw this picture, wasn’t entirely sure if it was a blue painted human, or a statue… In any case, this daily jigsaw can be played here
“….The Sanskrit word k???a means “black”, “dark” or “dark-blue”[5] and is used as a name to describe someone with dark skin. Krishna is often depicted in murtis (images) as black, and is generally shown in paintings with a blue skin….”
Siva are painted blue, because he had poison. Not sure about the story.
I have taken the following from wikipedia
“….The Sanskrit word k???a means “black”, “dark” or “dark-blue”[5] and is used as a name to describe someone with dark skin. Krishna is often depicted in murtis (images) as black, and is generally shown in paintings with a blue skin….”
So I infer blue is because of the dark skin
I read the story about the poison, but the Sanskrit thing is interesting
