Can You Outsmart Your Foot?

How Smart is Your Right Foot?

Here’s an email that’s been making the rounds:

“Try to see if you can outsmart your foot–no matter how many times you try, you can’t!”

1. While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number “6″ in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction …..And there’s nothing you can do about it! ”

This little experiement highlights how poor the brain is at multitasking…

actually you can do this. with a little practice of course. Just draw the 6 really slowly then evetually you can draw it fast like me.

it can be done if you draw the 6 inside out in the clockwise rotation the same as ur foot is moving.
hence, some people are better then others at multi-tasking.
    Good job mr. neurologist.

I was happy to find out I can do it pretty easily! In fact, I was able to do it on my first try.

I think I may have tried this once a few years ago and failed. I didn’t practice it then, or since, so somehow my brain must have learned better multi-tasking from some other task I’ve done since then.

ok… I did it… My foot is still spinning clockwise and I made about eight 6′s. What part about this is supposed to be hard?

a similar trick to this is to rotate your foot constantly and then draw an figure 8 in your head. most peoples feet will not be able to control their foot in a circle still
