Tea is brain protective

Scientists at the Douglas Hospital Research Centre have published a recent article in the European Journal of Neuroscience that suggests those who regularly drink black or green tea may reduce their risk of getting Alzheimer’s disease as well as other forms of age-related degenerative brain disorders.

The beneficial chemicals in the tea are thought to be the catechins.

When these catechins were sprinkled on dying nerve cells, they “strongly blocked death of neurons”.
