A simple sugar to treat Alzheimer’s Disease?

A simple sugar called scyllo-inositol may not only prevent Alzheimer’s disease, but also reverse it.

Promising studies were recently done in mice and published recently in Nature Medicine. Human Phase I trials have also just gotten underway.

To read more about how these simple sugar molecules can work their magic, follow this link to the Howard Hughes Medical Institute website, where Peter St. George Hyslop, lead author of the study, discusses his findings.

Note that the commercially available myo-inositiol is different from the inositols used in the study and is not thought to be effective.
