27+56=83
40+16=56
93+16=109
27 + 56 = 83
40 + 16 = 56
93 + 16 = 109
A=3; L=9; S=1; D=4; M=5; I=6; O= 0M; E= 7; R=2; F=8
1)RE(27)+ MI(56) = FA(83)
2)DO(40) + SI(16) = MI(56)
3)LA(93) + SI(16) = SOL(109)
This puzzle was really cool, my approach was purely visual, in the second equation you see that O + I= I so O = 0; in the third equation you have SOL two number of two digits added can give a maximun of 99+99= 188 so S has to be 1 also L has to be 8 or 9 you try with 8 and does not work then try with 9 and voila, from this point is pure induction, cool.
Each letter corresponds to a number 0 through 9.
The key is as follows:
O = 0
S = 1
R = 2
A = 3
D = 4
M = 5
I = 6
E = 7
F = 8
L = 9
The key was created from the three formulae. For example, starting with DO+SI=MI, looking only at the ones column (O+I=I), it logically follows that O must be 0(zero). Similar logic was used to generate the rest of the key.
Using this key, the formulae may be solved:
RE + MI = FA :: 27 + 56 = 83
DO + SI = MI :: 40 + 16 = 56
LA + SI = SOL :: 93 + 16 = 109
I couldn’t find where the numbers represented unique digits one through 9.
It is conclusive that O must equal 0, and therefore it follows, S must equal 1, and so L must equal 9.
So here’s one of my solutions not using all digit’s 0-9.
RE + MI = FA
DO + SI = MI
LA + SI = SOL
19 + 35 = 54
20 + 15 = 35
94 + 15 = 109
not many got this one. Good job LaDana, Shawn, Suineg,kaminaayato
