Most of us seem to believe that by the end of puberty, the brain has pretty much completed its course of development.
Interesting new research, however, seems to indicate that "the adolescent brain undergoes massive changes and does not reach maturity until 20 or 30 years old".
According to Sarah Blackemore, a neuroscientist out of the University College London, these brain changes enable teenagers to have:
- a better a sense of empathy and
- a better ability see things from another's perspective
No wonder it's so hard to get a teenager to see their parents' point of view.
