Just read about a new experimental drug for Alzheimer’s disease that appears to show great promise. The drug, PBT2, appears to stop and even reverse the disease in mice.
The drug dropped amyloid levels by 60% within 24 hours of a dose, and within 5 days improved memory performance.
The drug company that is investigating this drug, Prana, is set to begin a Phase II, double-blind-, placebo-controlled trial in early Alzheimer’s patients.
Apparently, initial studies suggest the drug will be safe and well tolerated in humans.
We’ll probably hear more in another 1-2 years.
