Premarin and memory loss

Data from the Women’s Health Initiative Memory sub-study shows a link between use of Premarin (conjugated estrogens) and increased risk of dementia.

The women in the study were aged 69 to 75, and they had all undergone hysterectomies.

Notably, the Women’s Health Initiative main study showed a link between Premarin use (conjugated estrogens) and an increased risk of stroke.

Of course, the more strokes you accumulate, the more your memory and cognition deteriorate. Patients with multiple strokes usually wind up developing a syndrome called Multi-Infarct Dementia (MID), a very, very common cause of dementia.
