I’ve made several posts over the last several months stressing the importance of keeping your blood vessels open and free of atherosclerosis in order to maintain optimal brain power.
Although I’m not really aware of any study that specifically proves this concept, it is an intuitive one that I’ve become more and more convinced of over the years.
Now a new study out of the field of cardiology (Johns Hopkins School of Medicine), lauded as a “paradigm shift”, offers compelling proof of this concept.
Using an extremely sensitive new MRI technology, the researches found that atherosclerosis which has yet to manifest itself clinically is able to influence several functional properties of the heart negatively - well before any obvious signs of clinical disease arose.
Common sense says that if this is true in the heart, it is also going to be true in the brain (which is even more dependent than the heart on proper blood flow.)
The study, which “challenges conventional views” with its unexpected results, was published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

It seems to only make sense, since restricted blood flow also seems to be a contributor to ED and leg problems as well. I am new to the whole demenia arena, since things have been slowly going south as they say. I am greatfull for the sites that I am finding.
